“I’m not missionary material.” That quiet thought has likely crossed the minds of many who have looked at the OPC’s Short-Term Missions opportunities and then quickly moved on. Maybe you’ve thought it yourself.

You may imagine that short-term missions are only for the adventurous, the especially gifted, or the young. You may feel you don’t have the right skills, experience, or personality. But the truth is that OPC Short-Term Missions is for everyday believers—even those who prefer to serve quietly behind the scenes.

These trips are designed for Christians who love the Lord and want to come alongside missionaries and sister churches around the world with their presence, encouragement, practical help, and willing hands.

Short-term missions is not about sightseeing—though you may see some amazing new places. It is about strengthening the work God is already doing through OPC missionaries and like-minded churches.

This year’s opportunities offer a variety of ways to serve. Volunteers can travel to Mexico to participate in Cross-Cultural Missions Training (CCMT) with the United Reformed Church, serve with Team Colombia in an English Bible school program, or take part in friendship evangelism and an English camp in the Czech Republic. Others may join the work of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Central and Eastern Europe (RPCCEE) to minister to children and families in Hungary, serve in the community in Yamamoto, Japan, help with an English for Kids immersion Bible day camp in Quebec, come alongside the OPC Uganda Mission in Uganda, or join the summer staff—or bring a ministry team—to serve at the Boardwalk Chapel in Wildwood, New Jersey.

You don’t need to decide today—but don’t wait too long. The deadline to apply for some of these opportunities are coming up quickly.
