DISASTER RESPONSE

On July 27, 2022, a devastating flood struck the town of Neon, KY. The flood waters rose over eighteen feet in a matter of hours, inundating and destroying every building in downtown Neon, including the building belonging to Neon Reformed OPC.

It has almost been one year since the monumental flood, and much work has been done. Within three months of the flood, Neon Reformed OPC (NROPC) was able to return to their newly renovated sanctuary for worship. Since then, their fellowship area has been refurbished, the building has been refurnished, and the front of the building has been renovated. That's not to mention the considerable community outreach effort that has taken place, as volunteers joined members of NROPC to muck out neighboring buildings, assist in community clean-up, and construct "Sheds of Hope" so that individuals and families in the area might have a place to store their belongings while they await home repairs.

To commemorate this response effort and the prayers, donations, and volunteers that made it possible, OPC Disaster Response presented the video below at the 89th OPC General Assembly during the OPC Committee on Diaconal Ministries report. Over 170 volunteers and over $350,000 in generous donations were collected to help Neon Reformed OPC get back to worship and aid the community around them. Praise the Lord for His provision!
