November 26 Today in OPC History

On November 26, 1990, OPC Chaplain Chris Wisdom wrote John Johnson, stated clerk of the Presbytery of the Southwest, about his impending deployment for Operation Desert Shield. Mr. Wisdom wrote,

Dear John, I am writing to inform you of my impending deployment with my Battalion to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield. We do not know the date or time of the deployment, only that we will be there soon.

Ginny and the kids are handling the situation well. She is the daughter of a retired Navy Commander, so she understands deployment and family separation. The biggest concern for everyone is whether or not there will be war. We believe, of course, in the sovereign providence of our faithful God and have entrusted our lives to his fatherly care.

I understand that as many as 17 of our chaplains may already be there in the Gulf.

Please pray that we will be faithful ministers of Christ in our words and works to all those who see and hear us. Please pray for Ginny and our sons Ben, Tom, and David while I am away.

Pray for us during these troubled times in the world. The Lord reigns!
